I am looking for a 2 in 1 pedal for reverb and delay and if I cant get that then what are the best single effect pedals for reverb and delay. I generally use BOSS. Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

    BOSS RV3. Search ebay now!

Can't think of any combined reverb/delays offhand. Of pedals you'll readily find in Irish stores, there's the Boss RV unit and the DD3. I use that: bog standard clinical clean delay, but no tap tempo. There's the DD6: more expensive but with tap tempo. I've heard good things about the new Marshall reverb and delay pedals, option for tap tempo and a tail-off sound when you turn them off and the delay has about 6 models (including old analogue style and a reverse delay). They'll probably be cheaper than the Boss units, but pretty good quality. I'd have gone for one if I hadn't already got a DD3. I'm not familiar with any of the Digitech or DOD stuff.

I have a DD3 too, its excellent. If its good enough for The Edge, its good enough for me. I dont think you'll find too many combined reverb delays...I would also stay away from the RV 3, I dont like it as a pedal (which is weird becuase I swear by boss). I was thinking of a line 6 verb. Having owned two marshall pedals that broke in a matter of months, i'd stay away from them too...Boss are (dare I say it?) indestructible. If you want reverb and delays in one, your best bet might be rack mounted effects....or else go with the DD3 and check Thomann for a reverb unit. Cheers.

Dont buy a DD6! You'll regret it, if you want a decent delay, go with an Echo Park or dd-20 for versatility. You know the Ibanez DE-7 is held in high regard too for its analog simulations and digital delay, its really cheap too. As far as i know the DD-20 has some reverby sounds.

Actually no, if you're getting a seperate reverb and delay go with the Digitech digidelay and digiverb, theyre both excellent and under 100 quid each

I quite like the DD6 actually although admittedly I haven't looked into many alternatives, what's your beef with it?

I've edited your thread title, OPH. All those stars are annoying, and serve no purpose other than to atract attention.

This is true, the Pod gets most of it's usage for amp modelling, rather than effects. I'll stick it infront of the Engl the odd time, but even then it's just volume or sometimes wah that I'll use.

The Boss DD6 delay pedal has a reverse function, what does that actually do. Is it anything like the reverse function on the Boss Loop Station where it plays your recordings backwards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

Yeah. It's supposed to simulate the old tape reverse they used to do back in the day. Can't commen on its effectiveness though as I only have a DD3. :( Does me grand though. use the amp's spring reverb or the GT-6 plate reverb most of the time.

I just dont like digital sounding delays, they mess with your tone, its much less subtle and nicer sounding to stick an analog delay after distortion. The guitarist and my band has a DD6 theyre very squeeky clear and harsh sounding.

I'll try an analogue delay at some point, but I would speculate maybe your guitar player hasn't tweaked the pedal correctly with his other effects. I love the DD6 but I am open to alternatives.

I used to have a Line 6 Flextone Amp and that delay was quite decent but I just got a DD6 and instantly liked it a whole lot more.

Maybe that's just the horse for my particular course ;)

Oh yeah dont get me wrong the DD-6 is great, it has a distinct clear hi-fi sound which is great for some people, im just an analog snob really! Im seriously gassing for an old ibanez ad-9 or Boss dm-2/3 at the moment but the prices are fairly prohibitive with all this hype or discontinuing the EHX deluxe memory man and shortages of BBD chips etc

get a reissue ibanez ad-9,or buy mine when the scumbag taxi driver who has it trys to make a few bucks for crimbo out of my old one :(

Saw a reissue Ibanez analogue delay in Musician yesterday...

Yeah i think the new AD-9's have 500ms and the originals have 300ms delay time which is a big plus, i could be wrong on those figures though (punchdrunk?) Out of interest what was the marked price on the ibanez in Musician Inc?

I tried one of those in Musician, was a cool little machine. Couldn't get great rockabilly slapback out of it, which is all I'd use it for, but Roger showed me some of the mad noises it can make.
