Using an Ipod in an internet cafe?

I want to get an Ipod for Christmas as I am away travelling and going mental without music.

My only access to the internet is in internet cafes. Do I need to start installing a load of software & drivers etc. before I can download music? Or would most good internet cafes already have this kinda stuff on their PCs already?

I assume they're not gonna just let you start installing things yourself.

    Thanks

They're hardly likely to let you install stuff yourself, and considering your iPod will want to synchronise with iTunes (i.e.: delete stuff from iTunes, it goes from the iPod, delete stuff from the iPod it goes from iTunes, etc.), you'd have to keep your library of music on the ONE PC, and they're hardly going to want to do that for you either. You'll really need a computer of your own. Have you a laptop? Can you bring that into the internet café?

It's only going to cost you 20 quid a month or so to sign up for broadband you know...

Nope, don't have a laptop. And I know even less about Ipods than I thought I did. Don't think I'll bother getting one til I come home.

    Thanks

Can you get an Archos? No software needed, simply plug it onto a PC, and copy the MP3's directly onto it. You can also store photo's on it.

Nice one. Thanks the syco. I'll start pricing them.

Was starting to think I'd have to borrow my mates one, all Kelly Clarkson and Dixie Chicks stuff so you've probably saved my sanity!

Only if you have your iPod setup to do that, if it's setup to be managed manually none of that stuff evens comes into the picture.

You can pick up plug & play MP3 players anywhere. Just connect to any pc with the usb port and drag and drop the music you have downloaded into the device.

If i had of known the complications of itunes, i might have thought twice about getting an ipod!!! Can be a pain in the ass sometines!!
