DS Lite Bargain?

These are a bit scarce this week although it appears there'll be plenty around in a another week.

This seems like an incredible bargain:

    http://axiumgames.co.uk/bloackbusterspecialofferID853653DSLITE.html

But has anyone ever heard of or used this site? It all seems very above board with secure credit card payment , won't bill until it ships, etc but I can't find any reference anywhere to them.

I've mailed 'em about shipping to Ireland and will post if/when I hear back but from the checkout it looks like they ship international

Site closing down sale. Sounds dodgy. Google doesn't even bring them up in a search.

"Telephone assistance is currently restricted to after sales customers only, for a short period."

Ring your credit card company and get it cancelled ASAP. That website is a blatant scam.

    Hi everyone,

I was just Googling around to see if anyone else had been taken in by this company (unfortunately my mum placed an order too, but I told her to cancel her card immediately and she did).

Anyway, I found out some information about them, and fired off an email to Pipex, the people hosting the site, and I got this email back from them on Friday:
    Hi James,

Thankyou for your email. You are indeed correct they are hosted here and that they illegally using Thawte and Verisign logos and verification windows on their website - they have been informed to immediately remove these or face deactivation.

    Kind regards,

    Alistair White
    WebFusion 2nd Line Support
    Pipex Communications

I now notice that their domain name only has an "under construction" page on the front page, and although that won't stop them from having the details of people that have already submitted their order, hopefully it will stop more people giving details to these frauds!

    Regards,
    James.

I sincerely hope no-one ordered off these guys because I drew attention to them! As I said it looked an incredible bargain but a not totally implausible site. The fact I could find no reference to it anywhere, obviously including google, made me suspicious. However, anyone on boards.ie is always willing to accept bargains exist for the persistent hunter and that's part of what boards is great at - collectively figuring what is a genuine bargain and what isn't.

Some people posted some very good contributions on this and even better did something about the hosting so at least more people won't get caught in "the DS for Christmas" panic and some good came of the posting.

Again my apologies if anyone on here ordered because they saw it on my post but I thought I'd made it clear it looked too good to be true.

half watched a programme on BBC3 on sunday about Xmas scams...
One they actually ran and showed how it worked was, set up a bogus site, take orders, contact you to advise problem with card, then when delivery arrives its a cash on arrival... you get your nice box all wrapped up, and they get cash plus your card details... On the programme, the actual box was supposed to be a Wii instead inside the lovely packaging was a house brick!
Didn't catch the name of the show, but a scan of bbc3 should bring it up.
Cancel the card now... ask for a new number immediately!
