Protecting reasonable pairs in PL

Two hands from the Fitz on Friday, just got knocked out of the scalps when shortstacked so sit down at one of the cash tables. Buy in for €150 about the3rd hand I get Jacks two limpers and I pot to 12 in MP 5 people come along for the ride.

Flop comes AKQc so I have to let them go is it better in PL to limp in MP with a couple of limpers and play for set value when it appears a pot bid is not enough to drive others out?

A circuit later I have Queens one raiser in front of me and I pot for 30 folded to the SB, I think, raises to 100 effectively putting me in, I reckon I have the odds to call if his 4 bet range is AA KK or AK, discussed it the next day with a mate who reckons I should be letting them go?

Letting QQ preflop in the fitz for a mere 100 is a bit nuts.
I wouldnt be letting it ago unless it was against a complete rock and even then probably not.

theer are times when you haev to fold it imo, you have to be able to lay a hand down every now and then.

Pretty much what happened Lloyd, I reckoned he would have AK rather than AA KK enough for me to break even with any other holding that I am favourite against just being the gravy

We check it down when I am pretty much all in with about €5 behind which was going to the dealer either way for him to turn over AK with a A on the flop, so happy enough with the call.

You should never let these go. If you have €150 or less be happy to get it all - in pre - flop. Sure, sometimes you will be beat - but you will be up against AK, AQ, JJ, 1010 too often in that game to fold.

I've seen aq and 77 too often in the hands of the raiser to ever fold queens here.
