    It is my Karma to have been asked to play Pink Floyd's "Money" at our christmas party. I work in this industry and am at a loss as to how to get the orgasmic tone that Gilmore can produce. Fellow lovers of the six string please help. I will use a Strat, if that helps.

    That's probably a good start;)

    I believe the basic set up is a clean amp and as many pedals as will fit on the stage.

    What fx have you got?

    I recently downloaded a heap of customised sounds to my GT Pro. There were a heap of Floyd sounds in there. I think Money is in there somewhere.

    I can check what fx are used and their settings if you want(?)

    Loads of acid.

    If I was tryin it;

    Strat, nicely overdriven amp (not overly overdriven), plenty of reverb, a tremolo or slicer effect with the depth and rate way up for the chord stabs. Haven't listened to the song closely in years so can't be more specific. Probably some nice chorus or a slow phaser with a relatively low sweep would probably fit in too. Control the overdrive with the guitar's volme knob as opposed to a footswitch as this will affect the tone big time imo.

    P.S. This is my best estimate with limited knowledge. I presume somebody will bounce along and competely dismiss what I have suggested but as I said, "estimate".

    Yep. Who was it that said Dave is like Hank Marvin on acid?

    Slightly overdriven sound with some phaser or random chorus and some slapback delay. Dont use digital delay. Def use volume pots for your level.Plenty of reverb

    Most of Dave's tone comes from his playing style, especially when it comes to bending.

    Have a lot of FX, but nothing that can be programmed. I usually use Carl Martin FXs
