Hey All, looking through the Dell Outlet store there seems to be a big price jump between the 1501 and the 6400.

Would there be much of a performance difference between the 2? Ignoring the 2gigs of ram in the 6400.

There would. You have a core 2 duo processor, double the hard drive, double the ram and a graphics card on the 6400. No contest.

allright lads, cheers! It's tough picking one out, I'd like to keep it small. Do you know if I chose the 6400 would I have any problems hooking it up to 2 monitors and external keyboards and mice?

Peeko - it depends what you do with them. Unless you plan very heavy multimedia use or the like, the 1501 is plenty powerful. It has the X1150 onboard, which is still plenty more then powerful enough for basic use and even light gaming.

No point 'wasting' money you don't need to, basically.

another quicky, would I be better off waiting for a better screen type for the 2gig system?

Thanks Havok, I wouldn't be using it for Gaming in the way you would see it. At it's heaviest use I would be running 2/3 poker programs (with maybe 3/4 tables open), a database gathering information, messenger, and a couple of other apps. My DT machine kinda has problems keeping up with this (old machine 768mb Ram), so I want to make sure I get something that will keep up with me.

The 1501 would be plenty fine for these sort of tasks, to be honest. Sure, the 6400 is better spec'd but if it saves you 300...

edit: Now for 833, thats a perfect system. You still get the faster core 2 duo without having to pay for the X1400. I'd recommend that one for a mere 100 extra then the 1501, to be honest.

for €250 more I can get 2gigs of ram and 256mb of graphics card, but it looks to be only a standard screen.

Can I do without this? I would really love to be able to hook this laptop up to 2 monitors sometime in the future, is this possible?

You could use the laptop as one screen and plug in an external monitor yes, but you can't plug in another 2 seperate monitors...

The 256mb X1400 vs the X1300 is only noticably different, if again, you play games (actual retail pc games, not poker etc), or you do heavy multimedia work.

So would I be able to say have 1 table one one monitor (laptop) and another table on different monitor (flat screen)?

Thanks for the info, I think the 833 one is the one for me.
