Had 3,500 songs on my ipod photo. It got corrupt today and i lost EVERYTHING! I cant believe it. So much for using winamp as backup!

I manage to salvage 3,000 songs that i still had backups for on my PC but everything God knows...

Anyone got tips on whats the best software or methods for backing up your music collection?

    3,500 songs would fit on 4-5 dvd-r's

how is it the ipod's fault or any software for that fact.

it's the golden rule of technology, if you can't do without data then back it up in at least three places.

all the files that i have that i cannot loose are backed up on one usb drive, one nas drive and my mp3 player.

**** happens with mp3players especially ipod's, and i understand you're pissed off but these things happen.

lol itunes is just as worse to be honest from my experience of using ipods. back when i had one itunes was set to automatically update the ipod to your library, if you had a empty library, it wiped your ipod. good design in software tbh.

Aside from burning to dvd, what would you do if you ahem, lost your original cd and only had the music on your ipod. What would you do???

    That's the user fault.

it may be but it should at least give you a warning, not just wipe it totally.

the idea behind the iPod is that the computer acts as a digital hub, it is designed to work with iTunes, you chose to go against the manufacturers guidelines and now you are blaming them...
