Ashley Cole will be at the centre of a Metropolitan Police operation tomorrow at Stamford Bridge to prevent him being targeted with homophobic abuse that gay rights groups claim has been planned by Arsenal supporters. In the past two seasons, this London derby has been poisonous enough between the two managers, this time it could be the first Premiership match where supporters may be arrested for trying to smuggle in a pink feather boa or an inflatable mobile phone.

The pot is simmering nicely, although things could turn ugly depending on the nature of the chants towards Cole from Arsenal's expected 3,100 fans. The matter was drawn to the attention of the Metropolitan police by Peter Tatchell's OutRage! gay rights group which said Chelsea stewards would be checking fans' bags for "homophobic material" while police officers would hand out "anti-homophobic leaflets". Offensive chants will result in arrests and Arsenal have issued a statement telling their fans that "inflatable mobiles or fake bank notes" will not be permitted.
lol, what exactly is homophobic about an inflatable mobile or a fake bank note? Ludicrous.

Matthew Taylors opening goal for Portsmouth was described by Paul Merson (and I'm almost sure hes sober) as "the best goal I've ever seen" and is apparently a cert for goal of the season! 35+ yard volley according to the BBC. Look forward to seeing that one later on.

There is surely a goal in the post for Liverpool V Fulham. Its absolute one way traffic at Anfield. 65%-35% possession and 10 shots compared to 1. Pigheads moneys on Kuyt.

Watching Bolton V West Ham here. 2-0 to Bolton. I can honestly say, this is the most gutless and miserable West Ham performance I've ever seen this year. There's absolutely no impetus behind West Ham, no desire or motivation to win the ball. Tevez has been fairly poor again, he's been taken off for Sheringham after 60 minutes. He's looking rather dismayed on the bench.

4-0 to Bolton against West Ham. Thoroughly deserved victory from Bolton. West Ham might as well have not turned up today they were so bad. Pardew will almost definitely be turfed out now. Rumour has it that Sven will take over!

Have to bring up my one footed footballers rant again. Just watching the premiership (missed the match earlier) and Kuyt got a long ball over the top, he was clear of the defence, about level with the 6 yard box on the left with the ball dropping nicel for a left foot drive, but instead he runs level with the ball and pulls his right foot over and lobs a tame shot to the keeper.

Thing is, thats all well and good in a game we end up going on to win 4-0 but if that had of been late in a tight game where it's 1-0, 0-0 or worse still, where we're chasing a team, it would make the difference in getting points. A wild left foot drive is always better than a dribbly shot or a tame lob.

    Anyway rant over.(for a while)

Not going to quibble with a 4-0, three of the goals were quality and Carras taken very nicly indeed.

I'll assume I'm not the only person who's bemused by Arsenal fans feeling hard done by one of their old favourites stabbing them in the back to go to a local rival...

Just watching MOTD and I'm delighted with Stuart Pearce's reaction to the Corradi dive. Instead of doing a Fergie and defending his clearly guilty player to the hilt, Psycho openly admitted his disgust at what his player did and promised to reprimand him during the week.

Also, delighted to see Isaksson in a City jersey. The save from Rooney is the save of the season so far.

Yeah we have a history of that! Richards did it after his equaliser against Villa in the cup last year. Nice to see a bit of passion.

    Yeah, respect to him.

You do wonder though, would Poll have carded one of the more favoured names in the game for the same?
