for some reason ive been in a mood to make some custom picks today.

never tried before but the urge took me, sticking a vernier calipers on a ps1 game told me it was 1.3mm which wasnt bad so i cut, drilled and ground myself a few different picks out of a disc. i like the cut of their jib so now im thinking what else would be good. cds and dvds are the quick choice and clocking in at 1.1mm and 1.2mm the 3 would be a good three set but im up for something a little stranger.

    anyone got any ideas?

ha ha! good thinking! Try plastic cards like old bank cards maybe?

How exactly did you get them out of the cd/dvd? I wanna try but I don't want shards of cd flying everywhere!

If you access to that kind of equipment, you could try making bass picks or the like out of thin copper sheeting (round off the edges though :) )

yeah the copper didnt work as well as i hoped but it mighta just been too thin.

if ya still feel like trying it parsley just just score them out as deep as you can with a stanley knife then chip them out with a needle nose pliers, then use a dremmel or some sandpaper to clean the shape or take off any burr.

i dont have a spare credit card to try it with but its just came to me that some glass picks might be class.. that'll be a challenge..

also i think ill stray away from the standard pick shape and do some crazy styles. best homemade picks ever so far!
