how do fellow bikers rate clothing ranges in the varying bike stores around dublin? I have bike gear but i want to buy cool looking leathers for a trip next summer. I will have herself on the back and she hates bike gear so leathers will be the only thing that will keep her somewhat happy!

I've bought gear in Cotters and Motomax before. What about you lot?

I have found it all overpriced for the poor selection that is available.

A few years ago I bought leathers, gloves and boots in DUblin and paid the price of a house deposit. I bought a CE marked winter jacket in LIDL a few months ago and would rate it very highly. Get on eBay now and look for summer leathers - I got a barely used AXO suit for £90 last week (+£20 postage) which has to be a bargain. Yes, you risk buying something that doesn't fit quite right but for that money you can sell it on and not lose much.

The bike shows are a good place to get deals too, especially since you can try them on.

If buying on the internet, I would try on a specimen in an actual shop first and then take note of the size.

Personally, I bought a set of RST leathers in a shop here which was a direct €/£ conversion, so I saved postage.

actually the bike shows in Ireland are quite poor and well over priced. Yes try the Internet if you know what you want ...

but I reckon Cotters behind the red cow, (you have to search through the stuff but great prices) and Hein Grinkle (spell?) in the north are the best around by far
