    Right.

So there I was. Sittin on the 16A on my way to work. Thinkin about the presentation I had just given in college about body mod. And I was thinkin... ****. I really do love this stuff.

I'd done alot of research on the project a few nights beforehand and I delevered a pretty decent presentation today.

I was thinkin, as I sat on the smelly bus, I wanna do something in this business, career wise.

But what? Become a piercer? Yeah, perfect... Right where to start? That's right, it's virtually impossible to get an apprentice in this country.

I need more ideas. On where to start if I wanna become a piercer. Or any suggestions as to what I can work towards doing in the body mod world?

Sort out Emmy's little head. :)

    i wouldn't be sure :P

anyways, best way to get your foot in the door i reckon is just start making contacts and show a keen interest and a bit of knowledge and show that you wanna learn and your in it for the long haul. but just dont give up i guess.get in the queue with all those other people that are trying.

You could always ask nicely if they would mind if you came in and observed their work for a couple of days, in order to complete a project (if you're not doing an actual project, invent a personal project to complete, like a mini thesis on the ins and outs of the industry). If they ask why you want to do it, tell them that you spend enough time in getting tattoos etc and you'd really love to see the industry from behind the scenes. You'll get a real opportunity to show your enthusiasm for the work they do and you can ask a lot of questions; including about how to get into the business. Also drag yourself along to the next tattoo convention and get talking to people. You'll meet artists from the world over. Be active and assertive. Demand to get your own way and be seen. They'll love the confidence.

Buy greys anatomy study it religiously every night for one year. You'll then know more then 95% of the piercers in Ireland.

You can get canular needles and experiment on yourself with the relatively simple piercings. Buy an autoclave as well and some clamps.

Tbh be a piercer is kinda crap, 90% of your work is bellybuttons and toungues then having to deal with all the f*ckwits who don't clean their piercings coming back to you with infections. And the pay is quite sh1t as well

Pester pester pester....it's the only way to get an apprenticeship in Dublin. Get to know a piercer and nag them non stop till they give you one!

Hahaha! Thanks boys! I've got my own piercer as it is, so that may help. A good bit. Yeah, I'll be going to the diff conventions when I find out about them. Think they're finished for the season tho, right? Emmet, where do I go abouts getting these things?

Would doing a course in first aid help? Could be useful.

My sister is training with a piercer in navan too at the moment, but I'm not sure how good his standards are. If I am gonna get apprenticed, I'm gonna want someone who has a decent bit o knowledge.

I know what the piercing industry is like in terms of what's popular and what's not. So I'm aware of that. And of the crap pay and extensive training involved too.

BUT... It's something I've been involved in for about three years now and I loooooove it to bits! I'd love to say I have got training in piercing. One ticket to getting a job anywhere in the world.

    Anyone see my thinkin here?
