Very good shots, great preservation of detail in the second shot, love the way you can see the individual strands of fire. Pity about the top being missing, but doesn't take away from the shot too much.

The guy was moving around to quick to get it in full shot but as you said it doesnt take too much away from the picture.

Thank you for that Felix, thats made my day :D:D:D:D:D

I only started in June myself and sometimes is frustrating but these two are from a batch of 20 maybe that I honestly like out of the 625 I took over the long weekend.

I have also been asked to provide exif data, so here goes:

    Shot data as follows:

    Pic 1:

    Shutter: 1/5 sec
    Lens: f10
    Focal: 50mm
    ISO-200

    Pic 2:

    Shutter: 1/2 sec
    Lens: f8
    Focal: 50mm
    ISO-200

I remember watching a show like that before and wondering just how decent a picture one might manage to get of it... looks like you've answered my question ;)

The first one is indeed rather good - but put next to the second one it just can't steal the attention. Jolly good stuff. Were they handheld?

Yeah I kow I shoud have done the not quite so good one by itself and then followed up with the better one - never mind, we learn by our mistakes ;)

And to answer your question, every photo that is in the series was taken handheld as I didnt have a tripod with me.

    Rest are here

He was using ropes that were weighted at the ends and doused in paraffin.
