Opions needed on holiday destinations.....lads drinking holiday

Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone could give me some opininons on some holiday destinations we were planning on going to next summer...

We were in Playa del ingles last year and really enjoyed, it was cheap, the nightlife was mental, loads of places to drink, the hotels werent too strict and the people there were friendly...

so looking for somewhere similiar and cant decide so was wondering if anyone could give opinions on the following place if you've been there -

- Crete

- Santa Ponsa

- ibiza

- Torremolinos

Any other places i should look into would be appreciatted too, thanks in advance

Only one of those I've been to is Torremolinos and it was about 5 years ago now.

It's not a real "mad" lads holiday type of place but funnily enough it was a lads holiday I was on. It seemed to be more of a family place. Nothing like you'd see on any of those Uncovered programmes.

Saying that though, there's lots of bars but there was only one club at the time. Saying that though, it was great craic and suited me and my mates down to the ground. None of us are mad clubbers anyway.

We did go up to another resort along the coast one night. It was much more like something off Ibiza Uncovered but it was horrible. Way too many football jersey wearing chavs.

So I guess it depends on exactly what you're looking for?

yeh were not clubbers either in fact we hate the music, I guess were looking for a place were a big crowd of irish people go to have a laugh if that makes any sense

Playa del ingles suited us last year cos the world cup was on and there were very few english there and it was full of irish just having great craic

Well the place wasn't full of Irish when I was there but there were a fair few around. English, Italian and Finns too. Had great craic them all.

Only reason I was there in the first place to be honest is because we had free accommodation.

Tenerife FTW.. Great place for partying.. Really cheap too.. Poor mans Ibiza if you ask me.. Tramps nightclub is the best club I'v ever been to, I'v been to playa del ingles a couple of times and its not as good as Tenerife..

Although I'v yet to go to Ibiza and I'm sure it's great but also very very expensive.. So if like me you can't afford Ibiza then Playa Las Americas is the place to go.. I'v been to mainland Spain a few times (Alicante, Torremolinos, Benelmadena) nice places but not that good for a *mad* holiday... IMHO..

Don't let a travel agent advise you Turkey as a good party spot btw.. I made that mistake a few years ago.. Me and two other girls, newly single and looking to let our hair down on holidays... The girl in the travel shop told us Kusadasi was great, she'd been there and its full of young people, great nightlife yadayadayada... Worst holiday of my life.. The place was a dive, filthy dirty place, full of really poor people, had to walk down a huge hill through what I can only describe as a slum to get to the bars.. There were only 2 bars that the Irish went to, the rest of the bars were full of Lithuanians, Germans etc.. No real mixed places and NO nightclubs, just all discobars.. I'd personally never set foot in the place again...

I've never understood the appeal of going away to hang around with a load of Irish people.

Yeah, me neither, bit silly alright.. But sure we tried some of the other bars but just felt a bit unwelcome for the mostpart..

Well was thinking the same, but the irish were the best craic last year on holiday!

had great craic with some germans too but the language barrier just wrecks it by times, so its basically the language barrier.

I was in tenerife a few years with a bunch of lads and thought it was brutal and never went back. I went to Cyprus, Aiya Napa 3yrs ago and it was great craic. We only went for the week and it was enough, we were all sick of drinking by the time we home. I would say just go for a week and go mad, you will have a much better time in one week then you would in two weeks.

Well i was in crete last year with a good few fiends and we had a fierce craic...only problem i would say is that it can be young enough...it seemed to be like alot of people just finished their leaving cert were their..id say if your between 18 and 23 then it would be a great place...Accomodation over there is absolute crap..its basically designed as a lads drinking holiday who will sleep in a bucket of sh1t at night...Some accomodation is very strict aswel...No extra people left back in the hotel at night which for lads is a ballssss....so chose ur hotel wisely!!

The nightlife out there is one big huge strip full of bars..the place is full of either irish, dutch or scandinavians....the irish bars are good craic but none is really that big...
In my opinion from what iv heard people either love Crete or hate it..

yeh were thinking playa da las americas, ayia napa or crete now

nellocon - where did you stay when you were in crete? was it one of the strict places? just so we can mark it off or keep it in mind depending?

everyone in the group is between 18 and 23 and a strip full of bars sounds like what were after and everyone seems to want to go to crete so we'll probably head there

This may not be of use nemore but newhooo...
Heres a run down of most of the best hotels as ive either stayed in dem or had friends staying in dem...

Hersonnisus-Elpida hotel-small,v.strict at nite, no pool woldnt go there!

Stalis-lyda horizon-very nice hotel-big pool-close to stalis beach, which is the nicest beach-also has a psycho security gard at nite...so no girls or boys back there!

Piskopianno-Frida-very nice hotel-big poool with a bar dat also does food -v. clean - but v. strict aswell....

The Zacharias apts. on the other hand are small-with only about 8 or 9 rooms max...has a small quiet pool...rooms can be cramped...but dont hav security at night!!(which is a big plus)

Oh my god you really have been deprived clubbing wise. Tramps in veronicas strip may be the only decent nightclub in las americas but it is nowhere near the best club ever.... its just like boomerangs or something in the sun, and full of brits

Exactly! tramps best night club ever? its a dump....good craic when your with the lads and your all locked i suppose but its full of brits and local people doing drugs and **** in the corners and in toilets!
