    Hi folks,

I'm looking for a decent camera... not too bulky, around the €300 mark. It's going to have to last me for a couple of years and will be used for:

    - family pictures(mainly)
    - holiday snaps and
    - taking pictures of stuff to sell online

I'm currently looking at the Canon A710. It boasts ''Optical Image Stabilisation''s sounds very interesting as my current camera seems to take quite a few blurry shots.

Is this ''Optical Image Stabilisation'' effecive, or is it just gimmiky marketing jargon?

Do other camera in this section of the market (Fuji F30, Panasonic Lumix) have similar/equivalent functionality?

    Thanks in advance folks.

I bought the A710 about a month ago, upgrading from a Sony P73, and in fairness, it's a brilliant camera. The IS is actually pretty decent, but a lot depends on the shooting conditions, settings, etc... I've deffo noticed shake reduction from the Sony camera in similar situations i.e. good light, auto shooting mode, etc...

    (shameless Flickr plug...)

The in lens IS that Canon uses is fantastic, is this a lens or body IS?
