Cable fell out of Sky dish!

    Hi -

Just looking for some advice. The cable fell out of my Sky dish the other night when it was stormy. I just called an installer to see if they could sort it out for me, and he said it would be €90 to come out and re-insert the cable. This seems rather a lot - is it a difficult job to sort it out myself, if I got my hands on a ladder?
    Thanks!

Nope but id do it SOON before water gets into it

The connector (plug) might need to be replaced its called an "F-connector"

And some self amalgamating tape (no ordinary "insulating tape" wont do) is a good idea to seal it up and keep it waterproofed.

Its advisable to unplug your skybox from the mains while working on the cable

Thanks so much for the advice, and the link, that sounds totally do-able. Now to find a ladder!

Indeed, get a ladder and away you go. It is an easy enough task to do and I would certainly give it a go before handing over 90euros. A new f connector is about a euro.
