    thinking of buying the Canon IXUS 900.. going travelling for a year so I want a good camera and i like the look of this!! Is it a good camera???

    Yeah it's pretty damn good. Feels good to use too. That and the Ixus 800 IS would be my favs in that range, not sure about the 850 IS (Even though it's the one i really wanted in the first place)

    But it your traveling around maybe getting an Olympus mju 725SW would be better (waterproof to 5m and shock proof from 1.5m high, not indestructable but a start)

    Can't recommend the recent IXUS digitals highly enough. Especially with the image stabilisation - it makes a huge difference.

    I dont mean to sound bad but the reviews of the Ixus IS 850 have been slightly better. The 900 is suppodedy just a 10 megapixel version of another camera (550, I think.) The 850 also has optical image stabalisation, hence "IS" in the name, the 900 however doesn't have this. I prefer the look of the 900, though.

    Im about to order the 850 now...
