Out of interest, what lenses are they? :)
I'd have thought ebay would be an obvious one.

I've tried adverts.ie . buyandsell and ahem....in my signature (bit cheeky maybe).

I've had some interest. May be the asking price or the time of the year I'm not sure but I still have the lenses after 2-3 weeks. People are definately looking for deals when it comes to selling online.

ebay is almost definitely the easiest from my experience to be honest.

I've just stuck up my first ebay ad!

Not sure if it's ok to mention them here, but if I did, it would be a Canon 35-350, Sigma 17-35 and Sigma 120-300 :-)

Not that you'd be selling here, but just so that other people would be interested in seeing how so sell lenses, you should put a link here... ;)

    (Good luck)

    Not a bad educational idea!

I had to set up a seller account, which involved CC detaisl and paying them, but I got to set this up. I've to organise pictures, so please excuse the basic nature of it for now!

    Merv,

You're starting price is very high, mightn't entice too many to start bidding.
That being said I have no idea what your gear is worth.

Might be an idea to start lower and add a reserve instead.

Just a thought. If the starting price is a bargin, then ignore the hell out of me :D

Hmmm, Dropped the starting price, but this is a nice piece of glass. the new version is over 2k!

If I dont sell it, I might go into the rental business :-)

The B&S forum over on Fred Miranda get a fair bit of traffic, although most of it is American based.
I'd say that the lens you're trying to sell is a bit to much of a specialised item for Adverts.ie
    Best of luck with it.

I bought two lenses from helpful Americans on the fredmiranda.com buy&sell forum (also one lens and a few film cameras on eBay). The prices on FM are usually better than eBay and you get the feeling the people are friendlier, interested in helping out a fellow photog and more trustworthy too (kind of like here :)). They can be wary about dealing outside of the US, but if you use the Irish blarney PM-style or show a good enough rating on eBay you can get past that.

That said, if you want to sell, eBay seems to result in the best price, assuming you have a good ad including sensible keywords and pictures. ie don't neglect to mention that your lens will fit a Canon camera or say "comes with second lens" when it's actually a white telephoto you're including. That sort of thing.

Also, answer all questions that potential buyers ask - I, at least, usually ask a question about something I have a fair idea of the answer to (postage to Ireland, whether the lens will fit my camera, etc), to gauge if the vendor has a clue, is for real and will be likely to complete the deal. No answer to my question within a day usually means I won't even consider placing an auction bid. Anyway, that's how to sell to me via eBay!
