BF2 doesn't work with my new monitor?

Ok, might be a little odd right here, but I just got a new monitor, plugged it in, everything seems fine, but suddenly Battlefield 2 won't work for me. It starts up, the screen goes black, then it just crashes back to the desktop for some reason.

Anyone experienced this before? Could it be any new settings or what? Please help, because I am addicted, and I need my BF2 or I'll go into shock! What can I do? :(

Try fecking around with your resolutions.

Did that already, no luck. :(

You got it patched up to 1.41?. No, then get it here. Check your refresh rate and resolution that they are not too high for your GFX, and also check the in game settings so they are not crippling your GFX. I presume you play other games and your display drivers are up to date too, hope this helps. :)

Plug back in your old monitor, then reduce res to 800x600 and join a server.
Quit out, plug in new monitor and then adjust from 800x600 to whatever you wish.
Had the same issue myself with my new 22 inch LCD :)

No i play them at 1680x1050,i stated 800x600 as a safe setting to start with purely to be sure his new monitor would boot BF2 up.

Bf2 has to be started in 800x600 then change once in options as dcully stated. So many peeps have the same problem. If you have a refreshrate lock uninstall it then change res to above then install again.

Have to use 800x600 on my laptop (coz 1024 = 15fps). Not all of us have multi-€ms to spend on hardware. And I ain't no nub, ya tube-jockey :D

    I don't, I'm just experimenting - and @ 800x600, I pull a very respectable 25-30FPS (which ain't bad for a 1.6 Centrino, 512RAM and 32MB Radeon mobility gfx card :p ).. and I can still own ya, tube-jockey :D

Yeah well I can easily match the size of your A64 system, but lets not talk about e-penis's. Whats the point of having a powerfull system if its no use to ya ;).

Easy one this. Just try searching the forum :p

Or you could just delete the 'cache' folder here :

    \My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Bf2 cleaner. Clean your bf2 logo and graphics cache.

The above notwithstanding, BF2cleaner's well handy, so thx for that :)

You have to delete some video config file. I'm at work now, so I don't know which one it is, but in BF2, you deleted this file from your profile, and when you went into BF2, it created a new one.
