    Hey,

Hope this is in the right forum. Basically, a very nice picture was taken of myself and my girlfriend last night in the local pub and I got it sent to me so I could print it out. Hooked up the phone, selected the image to print and my photo printer printed it out. All went well BUT - the image is all "pixelated" / blurred.

Is there anything that I can do to get this image printed normalcy? I dont mind having to pay someone to do whatever needs to be done to get it printed. Any suggestions?

    Thanks people.

Mods:- Feel free to move if you think this isnt the most appropriate forum. :)

the image might look good on the phone but blown up the faults come up pretty bad. maybe stick it up and one of us could run it through photoshop and tidy it up a bit for you

Is there anything that can be done to get a nice smooth print without pixelation or watever?

Not to sure, it was a friends phone.. I can find out.

What info do you need and ill give her a call?

I got it sent via an MMS message.

Yeah, waaay to small to get a half decent print from, I'm afraid. It may well have been automatically resized to MMS size when he sent it to you, but if you can get hold of the person who took it, there may well be a higher resolution version of it still on his phone. How you get it off there depends on the phone .. via a cable, IR, bluetooth, or maybe via a memory card and reader.

Probably has Infared / Bluetooth. Guess I get her to send the image that way and not via the MMS?

Will it print for me properly then, or will it still need a clean up?

Yeah, the easiest way for her to do it would be for her to get the picture off the phone onto her own PC and then email it to you. Whether it's good enough to print will depend a lot on the actual size of the picture (in pixels).

I doubt she has a phone cable or anything like that!

Can she not just send it to me via Infared, and ill put it on the PC?

If your phone also has IR, then you can probably transfer it to yours and from there to your PC, or if you have a laptop with IR you can transfer it to that too. You'll have to meet up to do this though, IR only as a range of a few inches (apologies if you already knew this:) )

Another possibility is that some digital printing kiosk machines have facilities for printing directly from IR enabled phones. Might be easier.

Erm, ya iv used those Kiosks before. They dont give great quality prints!

You're never going to get a great quality print from a cameraphone picture.

Basically, you'll need to get the original image from the camera, not the mms copy.

Not strictly true anymore. A lot of new camera phones have a high megapixel count and also have flash.

Here's a list of photos taken with the Sony Ericsson K750i , 2MP with flash which is my current phone:

And here's photos taken with a Nokia 6230i my last phone which was 1.3MP and no flash:

I got the image sent to my phone via Bluetooth.

The size is the exact same :S There is no difference from what I can tell :/

Anyway, uploaded it just in case...

Ill have the phone make / model shortly.

To print a decent 6" x 4" picture you probably need at least a 1.3MP picture (1280X960) The one you've shown is only 160X120, which is only 0.192MP. You definitely need to get your hands on the original picture from the phone. Even then it might only be VGA (640X480) and ven at 6x4 you will see a lot of pixelation because it is being digitally zoomed to fit the paper.

Well, if that's the original image, then you may forget about printing it.
What model is the camera? Seems extremely ****ty for a "camera phone".

one way round this is the possiblility of printing 'wallet sized' pictures for you and your girlfriend?

No I bet the probelm is she never changed it from the "default size" on the phone.

Why not get someone handy with a camera to take a descent photo of you and your g/f? Have it taken in the pub again if you like.

All I know its a motorola flip phone. New enough id say..

Its a nice photo, is there any way at all - even a profesional job - to get it printed?

Wallet size isnt to bad an idea actualy, should I just get that done using some software myself or wat?

Ill see what else I can find out about the phone!

Motorla V360 is the make / model of the phone. Apparently when she sent it to me via Bluetooth, it deleted itself o_O (the picture).

    Well, this:
    03-01-05_1807.jpg

Is an original image from that phone, compared to your:
    03-12-06_0051A2.jpg

So, in conclusion. Either your friend had a really, really crappy setting selected on the phone, or he sent you a low res copy and deleted the original.

    Just take another photo!
But again, you're not going to get anything out of that photo, so please stop asking.

At the end of the day, camera phones are only for recording stuff to remember it when you don't have a real camera with you. 2megapixel, 3 megapixell, they're all crap for proper pictures. They have tiny sensors, and a crappy piece of plastic for a lens. Get a proper camera to take a picture of ye again.

Perhaps a poor setting - but may I be so bold to ask, would the setting have been default or whould she have changed it herself? Dont see how she sent a low res copy tho. Also, the original seemed to delete itself after sending it via Bluetooth.

But again, you're not going to get anything out of that photo, so please stop asking.

I have no problem getting another photo taken. I asked if anything could be done with the copy I had - I was asked to get the original and say the phone model / make. I have done exactly as asked, and asked one more time if it was possible (with the additional information I gave) to enchance the image or point to reasons why the image was poor when sent via bluetooth. I am not repeating myself, I am just giving information that was asked for. So please, drop the attitude. Thanks.

Anyway, enough off-topic comments fro me. I guess nothing can be done, but thanks all for trying (and offering to print etc) to help me get the original copy etc. Very much appreciated :)

ah no need, you could quite possibly make wallet sized pics easily enough with it

Try www.photobox.ie and for €4 which includes postage
you could see what it'll look like on the passport sized photos
they do (you get 8 prints)

Might well work for you :)

    jb7;

Thanks for the attempt, but it doesnt make the image any more clearer when printed. In fact, its a lot harder to see (for some strange reason!) then it is with the pixels! Strange!

Anyway - just an update but I got a hold of the phone and looked at the settings. Its resolution was set to MMS so I changed to "High". Cant remember what resolution that is. Just thought id add a finish to the weirdness of the pic size! :)
