Cancelled Flight

I was supposed to fly from Dublin to Shannon yesterday, but the flight was cancelled.
It was originally delayed by 15 minutes when I arrived at the airport, and they checked me in. Was then at the boarding gate about half an hour before we were supposedly departing (1:30), when they announced that due to technical reasons the flight was delayed and a further announcement would be made at 3pm.
It was a New York flight with a Shannon stopover - so just before 3pm they called all the passengers that would just be going to Shannon and informed us that they would be putting us on a bus as the flight would now be going direct to New York.
We got €5 vouchers for refreshments (which doesn't go far in Dublin airport), brought to get our bags and half an hour later got on the bus.
The Aer Lingus representative that was dealing with us was nothing but nice, and he actually said they knew at 5am that morning that the flight would not be going to Shannon!
I am just wondering is it possible to get a refund for the cost of my flight from Aer Lingus? If I wanted to get a bus I would have and saved myself quite a bit of money in the process!!

Doubt it. They provided refreshment and alternative means of transport.

Typical Aer Lingus customer service. At least you got to deal with someone nice.

[rant]I was due to fly out to Heathrow today, flight cancelled. They were telling people initially to go to the Aer Lingus desk to rearrange flights. Within minutes there was a queue around the whole check-in area. They then started handing out flyers to everyone in the queue saying that unless you were connecting with another flight at your destination you should go home and try to amend your booking by calling their reservation line. They people handing out flyers refused to answer any questions. Four of us were travelling together and between the four of us, it took over one hour to actually get through.

    Pure madness.
