Anyone see the system at the Dublin Franchise show for a telescopic mast for taking low altitude shots from the air ? Anyone have any opinions on it ?

They are particularily good for property advertising type applications - see this UK company for ideas...

Didn't see the one at the Franchise show - what are the details?

Also -are you photography business minded anyway? I'd say it would be a good part of a photography business but not necessarily the whole business...

Met someone who has one and was running a business with it. Had a demo of how it works. Looks rather cool. Commercial Property in the main AFAIK.

Was wondering what the hell that was all about. Would you need to be 50 foot tall to compose the shot?

It looks like it has a fairly narrow niche market, plus the added expense of having to buy a laptop and a wireless transfer gadget (can you get 50 feet plus wired transfers?) would put a lot of people off, then again......getting snaps of roosting Herons and Egrets.....hmmmm, add to this the fact that I'm used to handling lengthy objects and it is quite intriguing.

I knew a guy on the southside who uses remote control helicopters to do the same thing.

I know of one for sale now secondhand. Seems a good idea. A laptop computer at ground level controls a camera about 50 feet up off the ground, and the image can be seen on the laptop "live".
