Europe may be the last region to see the launch of the Wii, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see big launch events like other countries. Retailers, Game, Gamestation and HMV are all having midnight launch parties. More details below:

    Game

Game will be holding two events; one at Oxford Street, London and the other at Dublin, Ireland. Attendees can expect music, entertainment, free pizza, competitions and Wii demo pods to play on. Anna Macario, marketing director of Game, said, “We are anticipating huge crowds of customers will come to our Oxford Street [and Dublin] store to get their hands on their Nintendo Wii at the first possible moment."

    Gamestation

Gamestation will be holding launch events at their Birmingham and Edinburgh shops, each starting at 10.00 pm Thursday and finishing around 2.00 am the following day. Kerrang radio DJs will be mixing up the music, while models hand out the food and competitions to win a free Wii take place. Special guest Mario will also be making an appearance, more than likely to be a CG re-creation of him.

    HMV

The official Nintendo event will be taking place at HMV’s Oxford Street, London branch. It’ll kick off at 11.00 pm this Thursday. While waiting to pick up their a Wii, people attending will get a chance to play WiiSports against celebrities such as Ian Wright, Jodie Kidd, Pat Cash, and Ricky Hatton. There’s one more bonus in-store; the first 200 people to buy a copy of The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess for Wii, will receive an extremely limited edition Zelda tin to keep the game in.

Whether you haven’t pre-ordered you Wii yet or you want to be a part of the Wii launch hysteria, be sure to hit up one of these events come pre-launch day, December 7th.
