Right, this is a complete pain in the hole. My machine has decided that it won't boot past the bios detecting the CPU. My spec is:

    AMD X2 4200+
    Asus A8n SLI Premium
    2 gigs OCZ Platinum PC3200
    XFX 6600GT
    Club 3D 6600GT

I've tried removing the graphics cards and reseating the RAM but it's having none of it. Any suggestions?

Have you updated the bios & cleared the CMOS afterwords ?

What sort of storage units are plugged into this SATA HD ,optical drives etc.

Try disabling the Silicon image SATA controller in the bios.

By any chance do you have a PCI SATA card plugged in or an Creative X-Fi ?

Can't update the bios. Haven't updated it from the standard one.

5 Sata hard drives and 1 IDE DVD-RW

Can't access the bios, doesn't boot far enough.

Wireless card and Audigy are the only PCI cards.

Oh I though it was freezing just after completing the bios post. So it boots but on the screen where it detects the CPU it freezes.

Well the only ideas I have are:
Disconnect all SATA, DVD etc. data cables from the motherboard.
    Remove all PCI cards
Remove a single DIMM just leave one in it
    Remove the second the 6600GT
Clear the CMOS anyway even if you haven't updated the bios

Now boot the system and see if you can access the bios ?

Unplugged the hard drives and DVD drive - nothing
Unplugged the second graphics card and sound card - booted
Put everything back in and it's up and running now :|

    Weird. Cheers.

Dunno. I had previously removed the 2nd graphics card and it hadn't booted :/ I've been having some SLI troubles over the last while but I've put that down to dodgy Windows.

SLI can still cause the occasional "weirdness" even outside of Windows it is usually down to different bios versions in the cards.

Not a whole lot you can do about it if that is the case, well there is flashing the same bios to both but I hate doing that kind of thing with graphics cards especially expensive ones.
