Some cracking racing at Fairyhouse on Sunday with three grade one races.

12.35 Carthalawn burnt out quickly after making all last time out over the same distance on heavy ground. Slippers Madden takes the mount for the first time in what should be a fairly competitive race. The main danger is Zum See who likes to come from off the pace. Excuses were given last time out about the ground not suiting it, but I find that hard to swallow considering it's form over Soft ground. I cannot seperate these two from each other so I'm going to dutch them. Carthalawn 3rd, Zum See unplaced

1.05 Clopf is the obvious choice here despite the short price. Should relish conditions around here and it's hard to see it being beaten. I'll be having a Clopf 1st Davenport Democrat 2nd forecast as well. 2nd

1.35 Cailin Alainn is looking for its fifth win on the trot in difficult company. It definitely has good place prospects and is a fine price in fairness. A winner here in a Grade 3 Novice Hurdle back in April it looks to have come on leaps and bounds since then when winning easily last time out to prove it can handle testing ground. Ground and trip should suit, with the main danger being King Johns Castle who blew away its opposition in fine style three weeks ago. Once again I will be dutching.

2.05 Asian Maze should have what it takes to win here considering its decent effort last time out but one could argue that Brave Inca needed the run then, and it certainly looked that way. This should be a thrilling finish where I expect these two to be battling it out, but peference for Asian Maze remains.

3.05 I don't normally back in Maidens but Powerberry looks attractive and would probably prefer a longer trip than 2m2f considering it kept on well last time out and started to pick up again. A different ride is going to be required here in order to win this, but distance and going are not an issue. A very attractive e/w bet, if placed might be one to watch in the future.

Here's a few of my own selections for tomorrow:

12:35 Lauraldean - hasn't shown much form lately but I feel he can make an impact here with the softer ground and the low weight. I think Zum Zee will be carrying a bit much for the conditions and Carthalawn is a coward of a horse who I don't really rate.

1:05 Clopf - No real explanation needed here!

1:35 King John's Castle - Does best work in soft/heavy ground and i feel he just might sneak this. Wouldn't be suprised to see Mossbank involved at the finish here either. Not sure how BlueBerry Boy will handle the step up in trip so avoiding it here.

2:05 Asian Maize - Very impressive last time out and I feel will come on even more for that run.

Haven't looked much at the rest of the races but at a glance.

    2.35 Church Island e/w

    3:05 Pearce Rock

    3:35 Heron's Flight

    Happy Punting Lads.

Desert Abbey 15.05 Fairyhouse @ 7/1 to be placed Betfair

Impressive when winning on the flat at Listowel and has put in some decent efforts since, could go close here if running up to its best.

    Good Luck All.

1:05 - Very hard to see Clopf being beaten.

1:35 - Blueberry Boy will appreciate this step up in trip after his impressive win last time. He wasn't quite a top class hurdler but he will be a top class novice chaser.

2:05 - Asian Maze is a bank job!

Very impressive indeed sj,just back from my local bookies and all the lads are backing Daniel's Dream e/w in the 2.30 Kelso, apparently there is a whisper from the trainer that it would have a good chance of a place.

Betting suspended at Fairyhouse for the 1.35 and it's delayed until 2pm. We could be looking at it being abandoned.

It wasn't by a shoulder, was by a short head, and the shortest of shorts heads too.

    Jonsey had it.

FTB had a 200/1 e/w bet come second too.

    Kept it all to themselves!!!

Damn you! I only had a few pennies on it. Did 20 e/w on Bella Liana and 5 e/w on it... as for fade.... 20 e/w @ 200/1.

Blue Buster for me in the next, with another small e/w bet on Watch the Wind @ 150/1. Did better on soft in comparison to the run it had on good ground, perhaps there's a formline there! :p

Another chance to have a pop at these tomorrow :D

Blueberry boy was NOT fancied by the connections last time out so will be interesting to see how he gets on tomorrow, a tough race though it has to be said

Wins today at 6/1. More than makes up for the money lost on Asian Maze!
