edit ok since the idea wasnt looking like much of a runner, how about a poll for items they are selling so it saves people asking is this a good deal etc? obviously if you know of any better deals then or have an reviews suggestions, just post away? obviously only needs to be done for weeks where they have decent items but i could prob manage to sort something each week for them if it proved popular. sorry the date on the poll above is wrong, it should be sunday 3rd.

    7MP Slimline Digital Camera € 179.99

    Would this be any good?

I dont think it would be a good idea having one thread.

Sure some weeks there might not be anything of any interest to Boards people.

no it wont be, their cameras are always tripe, many a time on the photography forum this has arisen. seriously, you'll regret it, throw your budget to people in photography forum and you'll be pointed to something that will actually take something resembling what you photographed :p

That's not too fair to be honest... megapixels don't mean too much when it comes to photography but for E179.99 it might be better than some of the other options (I do highly doubt it though).

    Get a nice 3.2 megapixel Canon/Nikon/good brand instead :)

i got one before, they are vivitar rebranded. vivitar have horrid horrid ccd's(sensors) and the images come out with colours wall washed out, blurry(they have high apature) flashes on em is pants)

Lol... do vivatar manufacturer their own sensors or use other companies? What's the aperature like - 4.7?

Is it so bad that you can't use it for 6x4 snaps?

I've got my (nowadays) rare Konica Minolta camera (since they don't make cameras anymore) - very happy with it!

altered the thread as it seems it wouldnt be much use to people as it was, perhaps the new idea would be better? suggestions etc still welcome. just wana see if we can cut out the amount of questions asking is this good deal, any cheaper etc etc and help point people in the right direction more efficiently

I bought an Aldi Traveler DC-8600 8.1MP camera when it was on offer. It
is an excellent camera, and the specifications were exactly as stated. The
guarantee is extremely good, as well. There's a thread here:

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=362620

If you go to that URL, you will see some of the comments, and pictures
    taken with it.

My camera was an absolute bargain. I am considering buying the one
that's currently on offer, as the spec. is very similar, but the new one
is thinner - the DC-8600 fits in my pocket quite easily, though.

Don't be put off by people who slag something off with almost no knowledge
of the equipment in question! Go for it, if it for some reason does not
    satisfy, then take it back!

I joined the queue outside ALDI Coolock yesterday, in the wind & rain, 10 minutes before opening. When 2 staff came out to hand out tickets for the big items (PC, hard drive, etc.) the whole queue descended into chaos and the staff weren't interested in being equitable.

When I got inside, the VHS to DVD converter I was looking for wasn't on display so I had to queue for a till for 20 minutes, not knowing if they would have any left by the time I got there.

Fortunately I was able to get one and it's €39.99 well spent, but they would have to be offering spectacular value before I would put myself through that scrum again.
