Tiger software for burning video to DVD format

Can anyone suggest a simple app for burning quicktime/divx etc downloaded video files to DVD format on OSX Tiger ? Something with a wizard or really simple interface. Creating massively impressive menu's is not a factor. I've been using Toast to date but it seems to need to do a huge amount of processing that takes several hours before it figures out you don't have enough space on your disc, meaning you have to constantly start over again - really annoying !

iDVD. It's part of iLife 06. Ye might need the divx plugin for QuickTime first though, at least for that format, as iDVD uses QuickTime to convert to DVD format (MPEG2 afaik).

Encoding will take hours no matter what you use. Toast is a good app, better then anything you'll use in the iLife suite. As far as disc size, see that the bar in the bottom right corner isn't red before you burn. How old is your DVD player? A lot of the newer ones will read download type files.

I don't mind the encoding itself taking hours, but what annoyed me was that toast took literally hours to just figure out that I hadn't enough space on my disc (ie: too many videos selected to burn). I'm 99% certain that the scale was green and below 100% before I burned, but I'll try again.

My own dvd player will play divx movies etc. This disc is for a friend who lives i the dark ages :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try toast again.

May have found the reason for the problems with Toast ...

Seems like all my video is in NTSC and before encoding to DVD format, Toast is encoding to PAL, and doesn't know before this process how much space the video will take up. So after a very long NTSC-PAL conversion, it tells me I don't have enough space.

Time will tell. The PAL encoding is ongoing ...

You might also try using a new dvd. The one your using could be defective. It does happen.

ok, I tried this again and I was right in my suspicions.

Toast converted my video from NTSC to PAL before encoing it to DVD format. I dont have a count on exactly how long this took but it was around 20hrs.

So after that 20hrs approx, I'm not getting a message saying I dont have enough room on my disc. It needs 20gigs - I only have 4.7.

Clearly nothing to do with the disc.

Is there something I can use to do this conversion from NTSC to PAL before I do anything ?
