    anyone know or heard of software that i could put on my phone and have it act as a pocket translator.

    is it possible

    What kind of a translator? How large is your memory?

    If you have 10mb to spare you can get a Chinese/English dictionary (11 mb for English/English Webster's dictionary)

    All for free (freeware - not illegal)

    check this site http://dictionarymid.sourceforge.net/

    All you need is a java enabled phone... they have quite a few languages available :D
