Lotus Notes Query

    hi Guys,

Hope I have the right section.

I have Lotus Notes 6.5.4 on both an NT and XP machine on the domain in work.

Both are configured in the same way (to run off the c:\)

On the NT machine I can enable Single Sign On where I sync my notes and windows pswd so that I dont need to enter the pswd when I launch notes.

I can not get it to work on the XP machine.

Its not a permissions issue as I have admin access to my pc and its not a application problem as they are the same install from the same location.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

    W

Single Sign on in Lotus Notes is an extra package you need to install then installing the Notes package. If you just select the standard install, this module won't be installed. Once you have the package installed, it's the exact same process on XP as it is on NT to enable it. if you can't find the option then it isn't installed.

Well I never used notes on a stand alone basis so i can't comment on how good or bad it is either way.

In a domino environment where the domino server is handling mail and databases is where i think notes comes into its own. Well actually it does nothing really, the domino server does everything. :)

we find it to be mucher better application in work for mail support. very few calls generated by it.

mails go missing - its because the user is an idiot..... everything is a user training issue.

internetmail - outlook express - we constant get calls where mails files are currupt or lost etc etc etc

Ok I managed to replicate your problem under XP and here's how i fixed it:

    In Notes got to:
File -> Security -> User Security

It'll probably prompt for the password so type it in.

Uncheck "Login to notes using your operating system login" and click ok

    Exit out of notes altogether

Go back into notes and recheck the above.

Now when you click OK Notes will prompt you that the changes will not take place until you reboot your PC.

Reboot the PC and start notes. It should no longer prompt you for a password.

That worked for me so hopefully it'll be successful for yourself.

As I recall the single signon will work once you log in for the first time. But if your using Notes for some time it may auto log itself out, if windows hasn't locked then it will ask for the Password again.

You also need the password on your NT login to match your password on your ID file.

Never really found it working fully.

For that last time, stick to the topic and leave the squabbling out. Leave the modding to the mods. If you have a problem with a post use the "Report Post" button.

I recommend having a rummage through the tech notes.

    For example:
    http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21205857

Also it won't work with roaming users. Theres an enhancement request for that.

Perhaps try reinstalling notes on the XP machine?

Also make sure your notes password is the same as your windows logon password before trying to enable that option.
