    hey all,

I'm looking for a good, tall building to take some shots of the city. Can anyone recommend any places? I'm hoping to do it around city centre looking down on the city.

    thanks!

Hotels are your best bet. Security won't know you're not staying there, and most have windows at the end of the hallways.

Other than that, Smithfield Tower and the Guiness Brewery are other options.

If you're facing custom house from the south side, what's that building on the left side of custom house? It's nice and tall...

Jaysus, I dunno...I'd say it'd be hard enough to get in there though.

Liberty Hall? Far as I know, it's closed now to the public, but it has a viewing platform on the top floor. Might be able to blag your way in

Liberty Hall was opened to the public for one weekend only last month:

Great views, even if the weather wasn't perfect. Supposedly the new building will have some kind of viewing platform when it's built (don't know when that'll be though).

Having lived there, I can agree and disagree.

It all depends on the time of day and where you are, as there's no great vantage point outside of the Strip unless you want to drive out to Red Rock or hire a helicopter. -_-

You need to be careful and get permission ... I was at a lecture by Mark Curran this week and he said the places like the IFSC have put restriction on photogrpahers in the aftermath of Sep11 ... they are still a bit paranoid ...

Looking at the rest of thread I'd so most of the good city locations are covered but as an alternative -

How about the Blue Light Pub in the mountains ... great views of the City while you sip your pint ...

... failing that Dalkey Hill or Howth Head are also good ...

Brown Thomas Car Park has a great view of the city..

Took this a good while back, but I'm pretty sure the view hasn't changed much.. ;)

yeah during a gig on the docklands, i was a cameramans assistant, we had to shoot from the roof of a bank at 9 at night, the security locked us on the roof for five hours and we had to sign weird contracts i neglected to read at all

Top of Busaras has nice views. I doubt you could just walk in, but a polite letter asking might not do any harm.
