Heading to Perth,Australia tue via Shannon, Heathrow and Dubai, I assume I am allowed to buy cigs at both airports(Heathrow and Dubai) and up to me to declare them at the Aus side ? same goes for spirts ?

What are peoples experiences of this ?

If there is thru ck in in Shannon(depends on the carriers involved) and you have boarding cards issued ,you could possibly buy your stuff in Snn...worth checking out

You are still only allowed 200 cigs on entry to Australia. If you declare any more than that expect to pay for them or leave them with customs and pick them up on the return trip.
Happened to me going to sydney back in March. Bit of a story resulting in immigration, customs and my passport. Anyway, wasn't paying the the customs charge so I left the cigs there and picked them up 2 weeks later :D

Similar thing happened to me coming into Melbourne. I had a carton of 400 smokes and got stung for the duty. The bad thing is that they charge you the tax on the full 400 not just the extra 200. Cost me another hundred dollars but it was still cheaper than buying them normally.
