Light fitting in kitchen with 40w spots. Two of the four bulbs keep blowing. I've replaced them twice in 48 hours re wiring the fitting in between bulbs. Any other suggestions?

    What type of spot are they? GU10 ? MR16? R63? R80?
Are they overheating? is the insulation clear of them overhead?

Are they low voltage? - the transformers could be goosed. Could be a bad connection either.

Where did you buy them? the cheap versions are really bad at blowing blubs.

    They are 40w R50 SES Reflector. (http://www.solus.ie/detail.asp?ProductCode=14002)

They were the cheapest ones there but surely if they are going after 24 hrs there is something wrong with the electrics?

    Thanks all.

R series reflector bulbs were particularly bad for blowing, I remember turning the light on in a rented house and the R63 bulb popped out of the base unit and smashed on my head!
I would check that there is a bit of clearance around and overhead of the light fitting, and try and buy better bulbs, I found the Philips ones good.

You may have a loose connection at the live terminal of the bulb. What I have done in the past is with all the power off, use a long nose pliers and slighly pull the small(Live) terminal in the centre of the fitting away from the back of the fitting(Towards you)

These bulbs when screwed home too tight push that live terminal too far into the fitting and cause all sorts of trouble. They really are not that great either, the R type bulb does not have a good life expectancy.
