Can any one tell me if play-asia.com is safe to buy games from. Are all credit card details safe. Can they do paypal instead. Prices seem very good and some games listed as region free. Is the language in games in English. Is the packaging ok to be able to flog the game off to xtravision or gamestop after I have finished with the games. 40E for COD3 + shipping very good. Any silly VAT to be paid on top of this to be paid from site. Any hidden charges.

No hidden charges. Perfectly safe to use. You can use Paypal as a payment option (I do it this way). I got Rainbow Six Vegas in the door this morning and didnt get charged customs. Havent been charged customs on any of the games I've ordered from them (about 6 games). Region free asian games are all in english incl the manual. They sometimes even send you a PAL version of the game. Yes you can trade them in at any shop once your finished with them

Yeah, I've ordered a lot of 360 games from there and never paid customs but make sure you dont order more than 1 game at a time coz they will get hit for customs if you order 2 coz of the higher value. I use my credit card with them and never a problem, they're a reputable site after all. delivery times range from 6 days to 2 weeks for me but the wait is worth it for the saving. the only game iv got with asian writting on the box is Gears of War, its not listed as region free but it is so if you havent got it it might be worth buying it from there.

Unlikely as they will probably spot that it's not an EU packaging

No, as long as you only order one game at a time. If you have several items shipped in the same package then customs are more likely to spot it.

ordered a game today they had a note to say that if you want to guarantee it for xmas that you should choose a courier shipping option.

That's there since last week and both Superman and Gears Of War had been shipped in the space of time.

apparently customs are starting to charge for items from outside the EU - anything over the threshold of 17Euro i think. I read about this on a thread here at boards but cant find the link

they are holding onto hundreds of items from play.com at the moment and also, ontop of the tax they are charging a 5Euro handling fee

just passing it on, i got R6 Vegas yesterday sans hassle so maybe its bs?

As a matter of interest, has anybody's envelopes come with numbers written down in pen on the back of the envelope?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭dor83

yeah, I'v got 5 packages from Play-Asia this week and they all had numbers wrote on them. Thought it was strange but I didnt get hit for customs.

Its not uncommon to be hit with a customs bill a few weeks down the line

well I wont be paying them anything, I'v already got my stuff so what can they do. Is that what the numbers are all about?

What can they do??? Well they know your address so you could get hit with a real fine. Then if you dont pay that they'll probably see you in court
