    Hi,
only recently i got interested in photography or more specific..music photography, like photos from gigs and stuff. so far its just been bee trying to get as close to the front as possible and after that its down to a 4.1MP sony cybershot ceamra with 3x optical zoom...(a very small basic little ceamra)
and my question is how important is the right ceamra/equipmet? what does a ceamra worth euro1000+ do as opposed to a 200euro one as im currnetly thinking about getting a portfoloio together..

    a few things:
-what are you getting a portfolio together for? to enter college, to get paying jobs as concert photographer?
    - a €1000+ camera and lens allows you to shoot more frames in less time in very low light conditions. it also allows you to have different lenses from very wide angle to huge zoom lenses, all great quality and able to shoot in low light with very little noise (graininess)

have a read of my music photography faq if you like: www.AAAphotos.org/faq.htm

well the portfoloio is really a personal thing(get as much good gig shots as i can and if i think they are any good and then try get started for sure with the aspiration of getting paid for concert photography).

i appreciate all the links i really have a lot of research to do because alot of the tech jargon is like double dutch to me..thankx all!

P.S. please check out this link and tell me what you think..its a snap of karrenO from the yeah yeah yeahs: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/39587400/ (taken with my 149euro sony cybershot!!)

There's a few points on that I wouldn't agree with in the least... Mostly the "Stay in the one place" one...

just another quick question, normally when im going into gigs i smuggle in my ceamra in my pocket....how do u get around this problem when your using a professional ceamra beacause i know ther not exactly discreet!
as i know alot of venues/certain bands dont allow ceamras in...unless you have permission...and permission is gotten...???

i'd never smuggle my camera in, if you are any way decent with a camera and you start shooting small bands, they'll put you on the guestlist. i'd go to 1 to 2 gigs a week, every week and out of them, maybe two a year would be ones i'm paying into, the rest i'm getting in free because i take pictures of the bands for them
