Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) -- European champion Barcelona is the most attractive soccer team for corporate sponsorship, according to a survey by sports marketing company Global Sponsors.

Barcelona, which beat Arsenal 2-1 in May's final of Europe's elite Champions League, tops England's Manchester United and Spanish rival Real Madrid in the survey, the London- based company said in an e-mailed press release.

"Barcelona have built a capable corporate communication platform in a relatively short space of time,'' Global Sponsors' commercial director Michael Stirling said in the statement. "The club have developed innovative ways of reaching a global audience.''

Barcelona's appeal has "been enhanced'' by the high profile of world player of the year Ronaldinho and manager Frank Rijkaard, Stirling said. Reaching the Champions League final also increased its television coverage.

Barcelona this season is promoting the United Nations Children's Fund on its jerseys after shunning commercial offers worth 20 million euros ($26.3 million) a year for its first-ever uniform sponsor.

Its form has also boosted income from ticket sales, advertising and TV rights. In June it agreed to sell broadcast rights for its games to TV production company Grupo Mediapro in a deal worth more than 1 billion euros over seven years, more than double its previous deal.

Chelsea, Premiership champion the past two seasons, is ranked fourth by Global Sponsors. The club's owner Roman Abramovich has spent more than 375 million pounds ($730 million) on players since buying the club in 2003.

England also has two other teams in the 10 club list, with Arsenal and Liverpool ranked seventh and eighth. AC Milan is fifth, four spots ahead of city rival Inter, even though it was implicated in Italy's match-fixing scandal.

The survey of 100 of Global Sponsors' contacts and clients used a points system to rank clubs on criteria including quality of current sponsors, average attendance, global media profile and attraction of star players.

    Rankings:
    1. Barcelona
    2. Manchester United
    3. Real Madrid
    4. Chelsea
    5. AC Milan
    6. Bayern Munich
    7. Arsenal
    8. Liverpool
    9. Inter Milan
    10. Lyon

Shelbourne came in at number 11 :p
