I asked a few days ago about the 17-85 IS lens ,because I was looking for a decent reach walkaround lens. I really dont want to buy another sigma lens ,but if the new 18-200 OS lens worked ,I think i'd have great fun with it.

Has anyone heard anything about this new lens ??

I got a Sigma 18-200mm DC f3.5-6.3 and I love it. Its so much lighter than lugging my 70-200 L IS around and it is small enough to do the job for what I want.

    18-200 or 28-200?

If you're shooting only for web this will be a very good choice. I was out with a friend of mine shooting landscapes: I had 30D 17-40 he had 300D with 17-85, not much of a difference between cropped and downsized images for web. Difference comes out when you heavily crop and print large sizes.

Weight problem is a big one - gonna be shooting press conference today - had to bring 24-70 and 17-40, flash, second set of batteries, camera and the battery grip - too bloody heavy.
I think I need to get that 24-105 that I checked the other day... :)

    Thanks for the replies ,
The lens I buy will hopefully leave me free to leave the camera lying around and not have to worry if someone sits on it :D
