Beep Code: Description of Problem: No Beeps Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals One Beep Everything is normal and Computer POSTed fine Two Beeps POST/CMOS Error One Long Beep, One Short Beep Motherboard Problem One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps Video Problem One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps Video Problem Three Long Beeps Keyboard Error Repeated Long Beeps Memory Error Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps CPU Overheating

But a computer I had seemed to have 4 beeps and a pasue then repeated its self. Cleaned the computer and all is working fine.

Were all the beeps the same length?

What motherboard is in the machine?

What the beeps mean tends to be dependant on the BIOS installed. For example, 4 short beeps on the AMI BIOS means either memory problems, or a bad timer. What BIOS do you have installed?

Did they just repeat themselves the once? Were they four fast beeps or slow ones?

Its a HP Compaq DX6100 MT machine (I'm not actual sure what kind of pc it is as I'm dont have access to the pc now but this is what I was told).

It beeps were less than a second long and a red light flashed as well with each beep
