    Greetings folks,

I wonder what sort of equipment I need to buy to receive Dish Network in Dublin. Also do you know if any other satellites carry FOX channels?

    Thanks in advance,

    Alex.

Near impossible to receive DishNetwork here.

Don't know of many resources for Fox channels. Sky has Fox News (dunno if FX channel is worth counting) if thats any use?

Fox news unlike almost any other news channel is pay TV only.

The other fox channel programs are shown on various UK & ireland channels, some of which need subscription. No fox channel is FTA in europe.

I'd nearly agree with byte, I'd say it is impossible to receive Dish network here.

All the BBC & ITV channels are available on satellite without a subscription, About 10 news channels better than fox news are available free, why do you want to give money to Dish Network anyway (curious)?

Here http://www.bbc.co.uk/whatson/ is what's on the BBC.

www.digiguide.co.uk is a good PC guide with over 200 channels, at least 20 are free.

Out of curiosity, how do TV stations (eg. RTE, BBC, TV3) get feeds from US stations?

fibre (tape long ago). Sat feeds only for unsheduled material or extra sports etc . News sat feeds are usually FTA, though can be 422. Sport if on a feed may or may not be encrypted.

You need a 90cm to 1.2m motorised dish, mailing lists and/or blind search receiver and/or time etc to feed hunt.

I know where RTE and BBC feeds would be but only caught BBC, never any RTE (not so common). Get German & Russian news feeds quite often.

Why Dish? Becouse they carry HBO, FOX, etc. I admit I am an satellite newbie, however I think perhaps there is a way. What do I need to receive it? A card plus a antenna that is wide enough to catch the signal? I saw that you have to connect Dish box to the phone line as well.

It says on the HBO site
If your provider is not listed, please contact your local cable or satellite company directly.
Shall I call Sky? I wonder how many signatures I would have to get :)

Even if you could get DISH network. It would be illegal.
You might be able to get the signal, but you would require a rather large dish.
There is plenty on offer here on the channels receivable via cable and satellite.

There is NO way.. The Dish Satellites can't be recieved here at all on any size of dish. The Earth is in the way and the beams point the wrong direction.

All the Most of the US o/p and all the better US shows are on Irish/UK channels. If you could get "Dish" here you would be paying a subscription to duplicate much programming you can get for free.

It isn't illegal (with a subscription), just impossible.
