    Heading on 8th for four nights and still no lodgings arranged. Hotels seem full so maybe someone knows an apartment etc they could recommend.

    Try the Etap. It's cheap and not far from the center on a train.

    Just be aware that wombats is the other side of the main train station which is a good 20mins on foot to the centre of vienna. It's near enough to the u-bahn and loads of trams too.

    I can't understand why the hotels are full at this time of year! Any hotel on a u-bahn line will allow you to get around very quickly so not being in the centre isn't a big problem.
