RTE Sports Write-ups - copied, or syndicated?

Does anyone know if RTE claim to write their sports articles, or if they get a syndicated version from elsewhere?

I have recently noticed - not for the first time - that they have identical content to an article on planetrugby.com, but neither seem to attribute anyone else as a source. The only thing I can find on the RTE site that would indicate an external source is a link to Ladbrookes, but that looks to be more like a sponsor image.

    http://www.rte.ie/sport/2006/1128/england.html - from today (Tuesday)
    http://www.planetrugby.com/Teams/England/story_55542.shtml - from yesterday (Monday)

The two articles are not word for word, but many paragraphs are identical.

Or is it just a case that this is common practice?

I'm pretty sure they're supposed to attribute syndicated material; it's at least common practice to anyway.

That's what I would have thought. Also, if it was syndicated I would expect the articles to be the same, rather than bits and pieces taken from it.

There's no obligation to cite the source, in this case the Press Association, depending on the package they've subscribed to, you'll notice the Indo will also credit the Guardian or London Indo if they use their stuff, main reason is an agreement between parties to share stuff back and forth.

    Even if its a bit one-sided. :)

You often see Robert Fisk in the Irish Indo, yet to see Mary Kenny in the London Indy :D
