changing my boot-up drive to drive c

I am reinstalling windows xp on my pc, the problem is i have two drives, my documents are all on 1 partition and the second one is for windows and programs, however when i enter windows setup, it is viewing them the wrong way round, i.e.e it sees my doc folders as the c drive and my would be new partition for installing windows on as D, i want to have windows on the c drive to avoid some potential headaches, I went ahead with this installation but I was unable to change the system drive letter.

I realise I will have to reinstall windows, is there a way I can change the drive lettering, I'm sure there is, but can't remember how?

    Any help would be great.

You could back up all your files onto an external drive, then re-format the HD and re-partition it making the created partition the drive for windows, this should make it the C Drive.
