    Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone can recommend some software for photoprocessing and workflow for Windows? I have been using Picassa but find it a little awkward the way you have to export stuff before the changes are applied. At the moment I have three folders:

one folder where I dump the pics from my cam onto the PC

one folder where I copy the pics that came out ok and I might want to use for galleryies etc (this is the main folder that I use to modify pics with using Picasa and to organise my photo's)

one folder to export the galleries I create in Picasa to, these are then put on CD or uploaded to the web etc.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of a better workflow system to use or a photo editing package that incorporates this kinda of workflow and has some good image editing properties. Nothing amazingly fancy or anything just the basics for touching up photo's etc.

    PDD

have you downloaded a new version of picasa lately?

With the latest versions, you can save the changes you've made directly to the image (right-click, save). No more export! plus, the originals are saved in a hidden sub-folder so you don't loose them!

to be honest, i don't think any other app out there matches picasa for simplicity and ease of use! feel free to correct me if i'm wrong though!

if you want to get deep into it, have a look at the dam procedures. They are documented in the dam book. You'll find details at

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the information - very much appreciated. Wolly I have tried the latest version of Picasa and your right very little matches it and I had hoped to use it but I didnt know about the recent changes that allow you to apply the changes directly or the hidden sub-folder. That sorta changes everything and makes it a much more viable option.

Merv- cheers for the info on the book. I think it might be a little beyond what I need but Im sure the principles behind the processes are quite interesting.
