I have xbox media installed. When I turn on the xbox an 'unleashx v0.38' screen comes up and I have to go to 'default.xbc' to get it to start up the MCE interface. Is there a way I can make it do this automatically when I boot up?

Put the entire XBMC folder in the app folder on the E partition.

Then refresh, go into applications, and it will be listed.

how is your xbox modded? chip or softmod? as the file you have to replace will be in a different place for each. Anyways those links probably have the info u need.

so in your case its probably

"3. Download the XBMC Shortcut XBE and rename it to whatever the dash was named (usually evoxdash.xbe)" - yours is probably unleashx.xbe or something on the c drive if its chipped, so u would rename the shortcut to unleashx.xbe or whatever it is for you. And then just put xbmc in the e/apps or f/apps ( wherever you have the shortcut pointed to)

Wait I don't quite follow do you have XBMC (Xbox media Centre dashboard replacement) or do you have the official Xbox MCE kit which makes the Xbox work as an MCE extender ?

If it is XBMC you can make that as your dashboard so no need for UnleashX, just rename the XBMC xbe to something the bios loads like EvoX and overwrite the current evox.xbe so it will load on start-up I think you place the rest of the files on the E: partition it's been a while since I last did this but the instructions are usually bundled with each XBMC release.

Edit: kaisersose77 has the instructions above.

think he just means the skin when he mentions mce

The XBox is softmodded, with XBMC installed as an application. (Although not in the applications directory).

We want to launch e:\xbmc\default.xbe automatically at start-up.

Hello again. I had the media center or skin thingy working fine since last post here but after leaving the xbox unplugged for a while it now starts up into the normal xbox screen. Any ideas why this would happen and how I can get it back?

depending on your modchip you may have moved a switch
    modchip could be dead
is you .XML file pointing to the location of the XBMC folder

might not help but somewhere to start

Cheers lifebook. When I turned it on a few days later it started working again. I haven't a clue what caused it.
