I found out what prices some Wii products are going to be in Gamestop.

    Console (incl. Wii Sports): €269.99
    Wii Remote: €44.99
    Nunchuk: €21.99
    Games: €59.99
    Wii Play (incl. Wiimote): €49.99
Wii Points Card (2,000 points I assume): €24.99

    A very Me-Wii Xmas: Priceless
There are some thing money can't buy...etc

What do you guys make of that? A few disappointing prices there for me.

As usual eurpoe gets to pay the highest prices no matter what the console and gamestop is happy to stick to the RRP and stick it to the customer at the same time.

How much do CDWow charge for deliveries to Ireland? Im starting to become intriuged by buying stuff on the 'net.

Delivery is free and you can usually get a voucher to take off one or two euro.

Oh fúck off. I can guarantee I will not be buying ANY of these at that price.

Only one I'm glad to see there is that Wii Play is only costing €5 more than the controller on it's own.

Having said that, I'd rather the controller was €35/40 and Wii Play €40/45 :p

So Nintendo say RRP is €249, and Gamestop are happy to charge €20 extra.
    Niiiice.
Not to mention they're Wiimote is overpriced (by €5), as is Nunchuck (€2) & Wii points card (€5).
If I had the money, I know where to NOT spend it now.

    Tut-tut, GayStop.

The extra cost is probably the recycling charge, what ever it is called.

But 20 euro is a bit steep aint it?

The thing is though, People will pay it.

Didn't they inflate the price for the xbox360 launch as well?

Hope the same doesn't happen in Smyths. I'd say xtravision should have the correct RRP values. They are usually very good in that regard. Might get Wii points and accessories there if the price is silly in Smyths.

Edit: Actually do Smyths have a lowest price guarantee?

I'm sure if GameStop are selling it for €269.99, everywhere else will be. Competition and all that.

No real surprises on that list, though Wii Play for €50 is nice. I'll probably pick it up.

I assume Wii points will be "the same" here as in America, so hopefully we can pick them up online cheaper from the American stores?

Apparently Wii points will be region locked too ! :(
    Not 100% though.

I've just seen one of the zelda ads and at the bottom of the screen it said "Wii console RRP - 259€".
What up with that ? :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,810 ✭✭✭✭K.O.Kiki

That might be the recycling charge -- €10 iirc, not €20.

Of course, when has anyone EVER recycled a console?

Any idea on charge for component cables?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,807 ✭✭✭chump

Games are quite expensive at 52 on cdwow. Seems steep tbh. I thought they'd be pc game kind of prices.

Still beats the extraordinary price of the PS3, what is it like 500 quid or something, so im not complaining, not that i even have the money to buy the Wii! At least with the Wii you get something new and exciting, and revolutionary and its half the price of the PS3 which just really just offers better graphics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,881 ✭✭✭Kurtosis

FYI, I've heard the two PS3 models been quoted at 599€ and 699€, looks like people will be ripped off more on thise as well.

Checked component cable price for the Wii, €35 is what it's in the system as.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 261 ✭✭Reaver772

The only ps3 model that Ireland is going to get is the 60gb version and its gonna be €620 at least.
    Edit: opps wrong no.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭shortys94

Ps3 is costing 630 euro for 60gb model.

Thanks for component cable price penguin88.

Is there a charge for preordering in xtravision for Wii? Also what price are they selling for as its 269 in smyths.

It's been said before BUT... Nintendo gave a recommended price for Europe of €249.. which doesn't account for VAT rates from 5% to 25%.. with Ireland at 21%. Ex VAT €269 makes Ireland cheaper than the UK at £179.. which means retailers (like GameStop) make less here than in the UK...hardly rip off territory in fairness! So if you want to pay less..vote more... 'cos it's the government who are ripping us off!

Its like the MS point on the 360. They're for buying stuff online on the Wii.

game were the only ones at launch charging 399 for a 360. everywhere else was 410. hopefully the controllers and stuff are normal prices too. the remote is only supposed to be 40. points are suppose to be 100 points per euro. nunchuck is upposed to be 20.

ill definitely be getting me a console and zelda and possibly wii play. 30% off wii play or 25% off and extra pad. hmmmm i wonder which ill choose

Thats what I thought too. The argument for console games being more expensive than pc ones, is usually that the company are making a loss on the console. Nintendo aren't doing this however, so why do the games (on the high street at least) cost 33% more than pc ones?
