Sorry but I have contacted my travel insurance for a flight that was delayed and as result missed connection flight. Spent 24 hours in sh(tty airport and because of technicality that the delay was not long enough at initial airport where I was getting first flight to bring me to connection flight, I am not entitled to all the time lost!
They did schedule me on another connection but it was no good as the trip home was disgusting with the time zone difference.
Is there anything I can do with travel insurance? I think they should should just be axed altogher because if you read terms and conditions, its a joke the compensation they give you.
Also if you get hijacked you get €100 per day of the hijacking. Ridiculous ****e!

Well if you bought it without reading the terms and conditions, what do you expect?

If the delay at the oringinating airport wasn't long enough, perhaps it's possible that you didn't allow enough time between connecting flights?

If you read through a lot of the threads on this forum, you'll find that a lot of the regular posters here constantly advise to read the T&Cs before booking flights/hotels etc or before buying your travel insurance or other services.

God, so many people complain about people not reading posts and it's a pot calling the kettle black. If you read my initial post, my first flight was delayed and we ran from one terminal to the other and arrived when the flight was leaving. If that's not allowing enough time I don't know what is. People are too quick to judge and give the third degree here and ban people when it suits them.

My view on travel insurance is that it's there to cover major costs or medical emergencies.

From what you've said, it sounds like they put you on the next available flight (at no extra cost?), unfortunately this was a day later. Can easily happen if getting the last flight of the day.

Seems to me they did everything they could at the time. Were you actually out of pocket, or are you looking for "compo" for the time lost?

Yes I was looking for compo, but compo for the money I was not expected to pay when taking out the arrangements or insurance. I will read in future. I'm sure you all do.
First of all, the flight they put us on was 150 miles away from our original destination so we had to get 2 flights to get to where we wanted to go.
2)when our plane landed we had to get a taxi to the other airport which costed in excess of $100 plus we lost more money on top of that and had to sleep in an airport over night.

The fact that insurance doesn't compensate for this travelling disaster, ruins my faith in it. They compensate for unlikely holiday disasters like hijackings, falling off a ski slope etc etc.
I had lost approx €250 from the missed flight on behalf of the airline responsible for getting us to airport where connection flight was.

It ruined it for me to be honest. I am not looking for unreasonable compo, just money I feel I deserve I lost. It was horrible experience and I got nothing for it after paying insurance company.
At the end of day they don't care anyway, I'm sure if someone was ripping people off and making a living out of it, they wouldn't complain.

Why not call it travelling medical emergencies benifit cover then?

Travel Insurance is mainly for medical emergencies and anything else is a bonus. You should read carefully any policy you buy and if its not suitable you have a 14 days cooling off period where you can return it free of charge.
Im in Miami on vacation at the moment and a mate of mine got sick and had to go to the hospital 3 times and have a few injections!!! She got her bill yesterday and its $2000!!!! Lucky she had travel insurance and is only liable for Eur100 when she gets back !!!

I can see that that is good Dellas. I was nieve as it was my first time using Travel Insurance and I expected a lot more. I know that it is difficult to get health payments for an emergency in the States and Canada, so I guess the insurance is a plus.
I just don't agree with the name though, Travel Medical Insurance would have to be emphasised on when selling the insurance and the actual conditions made clearer instead of in jargon, the words can mislead even though they are technically correct.
