How do you track open photo-exhibitions/competitions?

    Hi everybody,

I am sure some of you participate in some kind of photo exhibitions and contests for amateur photographers here in Ireland. What would be the best way to track what is happening in Dublin and other parts of Ireland in this respect?

Basically I am doing some photography for few years. It is mostly family/friends/trips, usual stuff, but I am getting more and more interested in doing something for wider audience, where the result would be a single print rather that a hundred low res pictures on the web. So I think getting into some low profile exhibitions/contents would be a good start in that direction.

    What do you think?

BTW, I see it's some kind of comunity formed here around boards.ie/Arts/Photography. Did you think of doing an off-line exhibitions of works of people from this community?

Handy money can be cafe's etc, but make sure you sort out commmission etc etc.

I joined Dublin Camera Club during the week. Seems to be a fair bit going on there. Sebzy from here is also a member.

There are a few exhibition spaces in Dublin that are quite good with younger artists too, namely the Monster Truck gallery on Francis St. where I hope to have something up and going in the new year. There's also the Peoples Photography exhibition every summer. Was at that last year. It was good, but to get a good space, you'd want to be applying early. I was talking to one of the organisers about getting a Boards.ie space for next year, along the Grafton St. side of the park. Will be putting up more about that in the new year again though.
