this should explain it properly, 1 i power up, i then get card setup, now i have 2 options, 1 power off, 2 format, if i choose format i get to choose yes or no, if i choose yes, card error comes up,the only way to come out of this is to power off. if i choose not to format i get power off dilagoue box, i hpoe this dispell the confusion i caused.

have you tried a different card? Does the camera have onboard memory? If so try powering up without the card.

Seems like the card is banjaxed. I'd say the camera is OK though. If you have a reader that you can plug into your computer try formating from there. That's not normally recommended but in your case you have nothing to lose.. Best bet is try another card. They are fairly cheap these days.

PS You need to know what type of card it takes. Different cameras take different types, hence the Fuji one not being compatible with the Olympus.
