Canon FD 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye

Wanna buy manual focus fisheye for my canon 30D - AF bayonet. Seen one canon in the shop on Dawson street for about E70 + prolly E20 for the convertor. Seems like an affordable price for a toy.

Any advices or something to look at?
Will it work well with the convertor?
How does it look on 1.6 crop? Is the effect noticeable?

Wanted to make some spire shots in O'Connel St, and methinks fisheye is the only way it could work. Thing is with 1.6 crop at 17mm it's still hard to get the spire into the pic without something being between cameara and spire...

    Any thoughts?

I suppose you can try it in the shop before you actually buy it. It's not a lot of money so if it works you can't really go wrong with it.
A more expensive solution would be the Sigma 10-20mm or Canon 10-22mm zoom lenses for an ever wider range.

thing is I want it as a toy so E100 is suitable price. I'm not gonna be using it a lot, so I'm happy with manual aperture and focus settings - definetely not worth extra E400 or something.

And I want the fisheye effect :)

A peleng 8mm would be a better choice since you can get it in EF mount and its a wider, you won't get the fullfisheye effect but it will bring the creativity out in you. Get the PT tools also and you could defish your shots and makes for a really wide angle. Heres a handy like also a bit of Theory for you to mull over :D

One thing to keep in mind is that a FD to EOS converted needs to have a glass element to keep the Infinity focusing (FD lenses need to be closer to the film/sensor plane than the EOS ones).
This will inevitably lead to a loss in image quality.

I got my new Sigma 10-20 a couple of days back and boy 'o' boy are you guys gonna get pissed off with me with the amount of pics I am gonna be taking & posting over the next few days/weeks hahaha

The Sigma version is a damn site cheaper than the Canon one too

Thanks a lot, lads, no luck in the dawson st shop, will try other ones tomorrow, but by the look of things on ebay chances of getting FD one within E100 are pretty slim.

Zenitar 16 and Peleng 8 looks like much more accessible option but it'll have to wait untill new years when I go home to mother russia.

2 digitalage: I can see you're on the mission, but I'm so not buying it :D
