Polachtach dear, I'll try be helpful and not condecending here. For someone who has almost 2000 posts I dont expect to generally explain this...

When you start a new thread it really is best to specify all you want to know so you get your answers faster.

I know people doing IR, and people on this board are doing IR... but they've no idea what you want to know...!! It'd save at least 3 more posts if you asked what you wanted to know from the first post.

It's hard work, but I enjoy it.

You have short enough weeks in terms of lecture hours, but you will have lots of essays and presentations etc. So you have to be prepared to put the hours in.

It's by no means a doss.

Talk to the head of the course Gary Murphy, you'll find his contact details on the DCU site. He's very approachable and more than willing to discuss the course with people.

    Thanks for replies everyone.
Do you have an interest in it Amz? Do you enjoy doing it? What times are the lectures on at generally. Did you meet the 410 points? How many is doing the course with you?

    Thanks a lot,

    David.

I got above the points required.

There are about 45 people in my class.

The lectures are generally at a reasonable time, few if any early starts and same goes for evening lectures.

I did have an interest in the subject matter, I think that's important due to the amount of extra work you have to put in. If you've no interest you're not going to do that and as such you're not going to do well.

I'm enjoying the course a lot, probably not so much at the moment due to all the deadlines coming up, but otherwise it's a good course.

Like I said talk to Gary Murphy he's a great person to get in touch with if you've an interest in the course at all.
