Thought I would give this a try and was pleased with the results.

looks good.. lovely and sharp. Maybe I'm just nitpicking but have you considered cloning out the numbers on the right? And maybe killing the small area of light wood in the bottom of the guitar to make the entire hole black?

Jesus - talk about pleasing the audience or what!

Only messing, good idea, will try it another time

    nice but...
may be increasing dof - so that all the guitar is in focus, and then hiting a bass string - so it'll play on the shot...

    just a thoght anyway.

I would argue crop as well, but then again - after 3 years in jazz school it's too familiar object :)

Thanks for that Borg, I appreciate the advice mate :-)) I also read with interest all your other comments lately as they really do make sense.

I did try increasing the DOF and I didnt like the way it turned out hence why going specifically for the part that I did (sorry dont know the official name for the hole bit). I got some new lenses and was happy snapping away whilst at home recovering. I also tried the bass string movement and it wasnt working for me last night but I do intend to try that again when I can get the lighting right for an effect/shot I want to try.

Tanks, dude :) At least they are making sense not only to myself.

I don't have a guitar at home, otherwise I'd try the same thing... Everytime I see that Fender in the music shop makes me want to buy it :)

I like it as is.. Don't see the point in cloning out the numbers/light wood because that's what it is at the end of the day, and this is photography, not photoshop..

I really like the crop on this too, nice work Mike!

Tell them Wez, go on tell them again!! :D:D

I suppose the other way to make it darker is to have softer lighting and also change the angle slightly. Either way I am happy and thats whats the imprtant thing. :D;)

It's art....sometimes photoshop is required to help realise a creative vision :D

(and thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it)
