Logged into my ladborkes account awhile ago, haven't played it a couple of monthes I reckon, anyway looked at my balance and saw 863eur which apparntly was deposited yesterday, took it out straight and didn't deposit, I have absolutely no idea where it came from, definitley not me. If they transfer the money too me and realise they made a mistake do they have a comeback?

its not yours, give it back. whether they have a legal leg to stand on or not is irrelevant, but i imagine they would.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,894 ✭✭✭✭phantom_lord

    Can't argue with that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

Hold on, from reading this I got
You found €863 in an account you hadn't used in quite a while.
You then took it straight out

    So technically you've stolen €863?
It's not your cash, even legally I don't think you've any claim to it.
If you have taken out the cash, your details are logged and once its discovered you'll find yourself in a nice bit of trouble over it I'd imagine.

I hear the point, but I have no problem about taking ladbrokes money. If they ask I will just say that I didn't realise they had made an error. How can someone be in trouble for withdrawing money from thier own account? I mean if they ask for it back i'll see what the legality of the situation is

What have you used to fund this account previously? Neteller? Credit card?

they will write to you/ call you looking for it back. pay no attention to them.

do not lodge money to your account in a hurry though as they may place a negative in your account...

A few years ago when I was punting pretty much full time I arrived home one friday evening to find a cheque for me from an Irish bookmaker. I was instantly fuming as I had my account marked as "payment on request only" - I was raging. I picked up the phone to give a bollicking to some lass but I had a moment of clarity....

Hello XXXX Bookamkers, how may I help you?
Yes can I check my account balance please?
    Certainly sir, its £kojdks.
    Thank you - great stuff.

they paid me out a cheque and never debited my account.. How to double your punting bank in one easy step ;)

I'm so disgusted (may be a slight over-exaggeration) by that that I'm almost tempted to email Ladbrookes about it.

Just give the money back ffs.

It disgusts you that people might not give back money to a faceless corporation that really does not need the money at all?

Thats on the provision that the money came from Ladbrokes' own accounts though.

Its a very specific sum, and for all we know it could well be another players cash (through some mix-up/technical failure of ladbrokes). Regardless, I personally wouldn't just take all the cash out and then have an attitude of "well, if someone comes looking for it then we'll see what the legal situation is then".

Besides, I'm sure theres enough electronic records that should Ladbrokes, providing it is the companies money, come looking for it, this "I thought it was mine" excuse won't hold up.

I don't know the legal implications though, maybe someone more legally savvy could comment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,448 ✭✭✭Lazare

Is it possible another player accidentally transferred funds to your ac, meaning to pay someone else?

I've never had funds transferred to me, so not sure what shows up in the cashier window.

Edit: If it was me, I'd find a roulette wheel and stick it all on black. If it's red, then maybe go hide in Brazil or somewhere:rolleyes: .

If they come after you legally then you can just pay the few bob back then, its not like its a big sum of money anyway.

Have you any idea how far €863 would stretch in a poor, downtrodden, low income household? You've no regard for the poor.

    hmm...ok then

OP: I want half transferred to my neteller account by 12pm (pm for details) or I'll contact Ladbrokes and noone will get to keep anything :)

    Haha

ON the off chance you are being serious, its not a sum that is going to be impossible, or even difficult to get if you needed it fast, for almost anyone; and certainly not for someone who has a ladbrokes betting account.

What i can't understand about this whole thing is that you decided to post it on boards. Either take the money and keep quiet or give it back and then ask if you did the right thing. whatever your claims, you've now admitted what you did on a public forum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

Im disgusted that anyone would even think of giving scum like laddies money back.

Think of all the poor addict gamblers who have lost their homes, family and life to ladbrokes, yer give the money back....

Fact is they made an error, this error is their responsibility and they are liable, if you have funds in your account you are within your rights to hit the withdraw button.

Christ think of it as a rake back :)

Aye, it was a fairly idiotic thing to do alright.

Fortunately, I'll be €431.50 better off because of it. Hopefully the OP will be back on in time to see my post, I'll wait 'til I've a response anyway. At least he gets to keep €431.50, despite his error.

Explain to me how it is idiotic. Do you think ladbrokes are going to hire a PI to shift throught the boards ffs. I thought it was a good story and put it up to see if anyone else had anything similiar happen

Don't take it seriously if you don't want to.

PM me, I'll forward my neteller account number to you and you transfer €431.50 to that account number. If its not done by 12pm tonight, I'll simply get in contact with Ladbrokes customer service, point them towards this thread and theres enough electronic evidence to have them come looking for it. That way, noone gets to keep it.
Co-operate, and you get to keep €431.50. Simple as.

rb: you should be ashamed of yourself, bullying people like this. I'll cut you in for 5% once I'm satisfied you haven't told Ladbrokes anything.

    5%?!Like YOU need the other €409.92! :p

OK ok ok, I've came up with an idea. Since I thought of it (and seriously will rat him out :) ), I'll take 33% for myself, but we'll take another 42% (€362.46) and use it to fund a few rounds at a boards poker forum beers? That way we all benefit :)
